Designer Highlights: Target x Prabal Gurung

So I am SUPER excited because it looks like Target does it again! It’s all love in February 2013 when Target teams up with New York based designer, Prabal Gurung. Originally from Singapore, Prabal stepped on to the fashion scene with the launch of his first collection in 2009. With his designs, you will find modern luxury, chic style and glamor.

Designer Highlights: Chanel SS13

With New York Fashion Week right around the corner, I figured I’d share some of the latest and greatest from one of the top fashion houses in the world! In reality, I can not afford Chanel, so I am thankful it doesn’t cost a THANG to take a peek at the latest collection! Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 has a little bit of everything I love- BOWS, super girly dresses and a lot of sparkle minus the goth-like makeup.

Coming down the enchanted forest inspired runway, we experience victorian style neck and waistlines joining forces with classic tweed textures. Mr. Karl Lagerfeld was not afraid to incorporated the top trends of 2013 including black & white color blocking, sleek silhouettes, floral patterns, cut-out detailing and my all time favorite trend Open Toe Booties!!

Check out some of the Good, Bad and Fab of Chanel Haute Couture SS13!!

Bows, Bows, Bows!

To Peep or Not to Peep?

Soo, today’s post is dedicated to one of my lovely readers who wanted me to clarify one of the most commonly questioned topics in fashion. Can you or should you wear peep toe shoes in the winter?? Apparently, there’s a ton of people who are on the fence but I have decided yes, YES YOU CAN! You just have to remember a few things regarding color and material!

Deep colors (blacks, browns, reds, berrys) and nude colors (usually matching your skin tone) can really be worn year round, from day into evening. Seasonal colors, worn mostly during spring and summer months, usually consist of bright or light colors (pinks, blues, oranges, yellows, white). You definitely wouldn’t want to be wearing these during a snow storm no matter how cute you think your outfit will be at the party!

Oh and just a friendly reminder, let’s remember ladies, those toes should be well manicured before they are peeking out of anybody’s shoes! Just because your feet are hiding in boots the majority of the fall and winter months does not mean they can not look pretty! OK! Now back to our regularly scheduled program 🙂

Let’s talk fabrics! Leather, patent and suede are usually pretty safe to wear through-out the year. But again, some fabrics you should just know not to wear during cooler months if – A. Your toes will be cold and B. Your shoes can easily get soaked. So, then, it is safe to assume that you should save your canvas, lace, and cork wedges and heels for next spring and summer. Those months will be here again before you know it and until then you can stock up on more shoes!

So, ladies, when do YOU wear your peep-toes? I want to hear from you!
My favorite peep toe look this season is definitely the peep toe bootie! Check out some of my faves!!

2013 Fashion Trends Springing Forward

So I know we are only in the middle stages of winter but spring fashions are already here! Remember, there’s no harm in adding some vibrant pops of color into those cozy winter threads! Check out a few of my favorite upcoming trends and must-haves for Spring 2013!

•Bold stripes•
Stripes can be flattering depending which direction they’re going and how big or small they are! Don’t be afraid to add some strong lines to your closet this season!

•Black & white•
Not typical for spring, but black and white goes with everything and you can always add a pop of color! What’s black, white and red all over? You be the judge!

•Flats & Low Heels•
No this doesn’t mean put away those sky high heels for good! Flats and kitten heels have been swiftly making their way down the runway of shows like Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs. These spring must haves easily dress up a casual look and make for a more comfortable day in the office!

•Statement Sunglasses•
Who doesn’t love funky, fresh and fabulous sunnies?? Cat’s eye, along with retro inspired and geometric styles keep spring and summer looks chic and BOLD!

•Luxe Leather•
Leather has been a huge hit in the fall and winter months of 2012, as seen on baby momma and baby daddy Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Luxe leather springs forward with us into 2013 with bold color, great shapes and amazing detail.

I’ll definitely be investing in some gorgeous leather, adding to my collection of flats and updating my contact lens prescription for a knock out pair of sunnies!
Which trend for Spring 2013 will YOU take on?
