Met Gala 2018 Theme: “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination

Hey Y’all!
I know it’s been a long time, but I’m back to discuss this tear’s Met Gala.
To be completely honest the whole entire theme makes me SUPER uncomfortable!
Although I understand the Met Gala is like a over the top costume party, I don’t like that it incorporates religion. I am all for art and art history, but I am not about mixing it with religion.
Apparently though, the Vatican approved the event..Didn’t even know they had that much authority 🤷🏽‍♀️
Here are some of the looks I found to be most interesting of the evening.
Blake Lively in Atelier Versace that took 600 hours and still wasn’t done.
Rihanna looking like a dang Pope in a papal-inspired dress by Maison Margiela.
Jennifer Lopez
Priyanka Chopra in Ralph Lauren.
Zendaya with a Joan of Arch representation by Versace.
Ariana Grande in Vera Wang, featuring a painting of Michelangelo’s The Last Judgement
SZA in Versace
Kim Kardashian
Jasmine Sanders, model & Girlfriend of Terrance J in H and M. Super surprised that it’s H and M! The top of her dress reminds me of Roman columns! And I loveeee the fabric & color.
Who were your faves? What do you think about the theme?
